American Hydro Manufacturing Capabilities

The American Hydro facility is designed from the ground up to provide a manufacturing environment that produces high quality hydro mechanical components cost effectively and in less time than by conventional means. Making all this possible is American Hydro’s expertise in computer and manufacturing integration. Engineered designs created with specialized software are input directly into work centers equipped with CNC milling or plasma cutting machines for complete accuracy. This “paperless” production approach eliminates errors and improves quality.

American Hydro’s headquarters is located in York, Pennsylvania, USA. The facility is dedicated to hydro turbine manufacture and rehabilitation with over 123,000 square feet set on 38 acres and a 200 ton crane capacity and access to by rail and road.

MPC2024 Multi-Process Center

This high speed machine features a PC based CNC control, low profile, dual beam construction that isolates the process beam from auxiliary to support beam. The machine is capable of cutting high quality plate materials used in the fabrication of runner crown, band and bucket components.

Waldrich* Coburg Multitec 3500 A Portal Type Machining Center with Moving Table

This machine is a 5-axis machining center with integrated turning table which allows both horizontal machining and vertical turning operations. Each table can support 27 tons at 16 ft. long x 9 ft. wide x 9 ft. high.

Blasting Facility

A state-of-the-art installation that offers multiple blast-media types, media recycling and contaminant filtering. The facility includes a reduced pressure containment vessel where all blasting and particle separation takes place in an environmentally secured unit. Contaminants are separated from the media and deposited in individual containers depending on their mass and magnetic properties. The accumulated paint “chips” are tested for heavy metals and disposed of according to applicable federal, state and local regulations.

For cylindrical and contour machining of runner crown, bands and runner assemblies. The general numeric control features a DNC link and color graphics.

Robotic Welding

American Hydro owns a state-of-the-art robotic welding center which reduces the high costs of manual labor and machine tool utilization used in the welding process allowing us to pass those savings onto our customers. Spurred by a strategic initiatives session, our robotics center has advanced robotic programming operational skills with multiple robotic operating systems.
